The Role


MSM is looking for a Manager, People and Culture, Canada (and additional countries such as UK and US) who will be a champion of MSM’s culture and values while lending strategic and operational expertise to the MSM team on all people-related matters.

The Manager, People and Culture is someone who can implement strategies to increase diversity and inclusion within the organization and implement initiatives for employee engagement and retention.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are must-have traits while a strong foundation on the education field or educational technology sector is desirable. The role requires a true ‘people person’ with a sincere passion for supporting great teams and helping them thrive within the bigger community.

This is a high volume, tactical role with frequent onboarding and process activities. Presently the role is supported by an HR Administrator and a talent acquisition team.


What You’ll Do


  • Hiring of company personnel in Canada
  • Implement organizational goal deployment with vision and values that lead to more employee engagement
  • Review, create and implement an HR Standardization Process that leads to smooth employee operations and relations
  • Lead HR projects like compensation plans revisions
  • Research and advise on the implementation of functional HRMS and databases across all departments and locations
  • Apply knowledge and skills in talent management and acquisition
  • Lead organizational development, performance management, working with managers
  • Oversee performance evaluation systems and process
  • Implement and co-ordinate new company policies and procedures
  • Manage internal communication projects (like job satisfaction surveys)
  • Oversee employee benefits and payroll (Ceridian Powerpay)
  • Measure the effectiveness of the company benefit program and recommend refinements
  • Coordinate employee training and development initiatives
  • Ensure our recordkeeping and data processing procedures comply with GDPR requirements, privacy and data security laws and requirements


Who We’re Looking For


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Management, Organizational Communication, or any related field
  • CPHR and other designations related to HR and payroll are strongly preferred
  • Work experience in HR operations or similar role for no fewer than 3 years
  • Experience with Human Resources Information Systems including payroll tools (required)
  • Experience with Ceridian Powerpay (preferred)
  • Experience in extended health benefits programs
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation in Canada
  • Proven experience in data tracking and management
  • Excellent presentation and persuasion skills
  • International experience preferred

Location of Work


  • Anywhere in British Columbia, Lower Mainland strongly preferred (candidates outside of BC will not be considered)
  • Travel to job sites and meetings will be required periodically


Hours of Work


  • Standard office hours are 8:30 am – 5 pm Pacific time
  • Occasional pre-approved changes in schedule may be approved
  • Some events occur outside of the regular work day and flexibility for some additional time is required for necessary operations
  • This is not an overtime-eligible position
