Tech-driven global education company M Square Media (MSM) announces the appointment of Karen Ludwig, a higher education leader with Canadian political experience, as the company’s new Vice President of Strategic Alliances to forge new partnerships and empower diverse talent amid the company’s extensive growth in Canada and worldwide.
Previously a Member of Parliament, Ludwig represented the federal electoral district of New Brunswick Southwest in the House of Commons from 2015 to 2019 – the only woman elected to represent this federal riding to date. During her tenure, she observed numerous complex challenges affecting global education, such as international student mobility.
“Visa restrictions, travel bans, and limited financial resources can prevent students from accessing quality education abroad, limiting their opportunities for personal and professional growth. We need to work together to address these challenges and create a more inclusive environment that welcomes students from diverse backgrounds,” she said.
Prior to entering politics, Ludwig was the Associate Dean of Faculty Development at Yorkville University and taught at the University of New Brunswick in the Master of Education and MBA programs. After serving in government, she returned to Yorkville as Vice-President for Growth Initiatives.
Of her recent appointment, Ludwig said: “As a higher education leader with political experience, I was looking for a new challenge that would allow me to leverage my expertise and make a meaningful impact. Joining MSM was the perfect fit; I’m excited to be a part of this team and to help shape the future of education.”
Sanjay Laul, Founder and CEO of MSM, said: “Karen has the clear advocacy of creating fair and inclusive learning for students everywhere, which aligns with MSM’s vision of making global education accessible to all. Together we can make maximum positive impact for our learners and the educational institutions, recruitment parties, and service providers that design the 360-degree international student journey.”
At MSM, Ludwig will work to attract top talent from around the world, connect with key stakeholders in education, industry, and government, and find innovative solutions to Canada’s skills gaps. “Our goal is not just to educate students, but to inspire and prepare them for success in the global workforce,” she added.
