As international education continues to get back on its feet in many parts of the world, the main concern among governments and higher education institutions now is how to beef up their enrollment figures back to pre-pandemic levels.
Things seem to be looking up, however, as international students start going back to their chosen study destinations. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this trend holds.
According to a survey conducted by The Campus Advisor involving more than 17,000 students from all over the world, the United States remains the most desirable study destination among international students.
Cameron MacKay, High Commissioner for Canada in India, says that the Canadian government is all hands on deck to cover the backlog of international student visa applications, specifically for international students from India. The commissioner emphasized India because it leads the source countries of each visa category such as student, temporary residence, permanent residence, and tourist visas.
The recent International Student Survey by the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) revealed that 72.6% of international students enrolled at Canadian higher education institutions plan to apply for a post-graduate work permit.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was recently signed between the United Kingdom and India. The “landmark” agreement was about the acknowledgment of both countries’ higher education qualifications. Through the agreement, Indian students finishing their studies at British universities will be able to apply for postgraduate qualifications in their home country of India. The agreement will make it more manageable for students to move forward with their education and get jobs in both countries.
Australian education minister Jason Clare assured his counterpart in India Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, Government of India, of the speedy resolution of visa-related issues for students who are enrolled in Australian universities and educational institutions.
According to statistics, some 108,000 international students from 117 countries have enrolled in Iranian universities for the current academic year. These foreign nationals are studying in different fields of science, research and technology, health and medical education, engineering, agricultural sciences, and more.
The US embassy in Dhaka was hopeful of clearing the backlog of both immigrant and non-immigrant visa applications due to the pandemic. Officials said that they will be working on Friday to ensure that Bangladeshi students will receive interviews before the start of the fall semester.
Isobel Arseneau and Vikram Dalal, two international students, helped save a family from drowning in their sinking car, which accidentally went into the waterway while unloading supplies. The international students, along with other bystanders, helped a woman and a child get out of the sinking car.
After two years of pandemic restrictions and direct flight disruptions, India and China are now discussing the return of thousands of Indian students stranded at home for two years.
China’s Premier Li Keqiang has said all international students may return to China as the country considers increasing international flights more than two years into the pandemic. A lot of foreign students including Indian medical students have been awaiting a return to China to resume their studies.
International students can apply for the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati admission for engineering, sciences, humanities, social sciences, design, healthcare, medicine, management, and interdisciplinary areas. IIT Guwahati has also initiated a joint degree Ph.D. program (JDP) including a partner Institute abroad, where the student can spend at least twelve months at each Institute during the program.
International students will be able to start work in Spain at the end of their studies instead of waiting for three years. Foreign students will also be allowed to work up to 30 hours a week while studying.

Nipissing University’s Minor in Business Administration is available to students pursuing a program of study in a different discipline. Students will need to achieve a minimum 60% average in the 18 credits presented for the Minor in Business Administration.
